is it balearic releases a debut ep from clandestino s joe morris. 4 tracks of lush electronic grooves. the title track golden tides is a mid tempo houser with beautiful pads and soft arpeggios. late afternoon sundowner vibrations. the second track bayou has touches of sueno latino about it, an afterdark evocative tropical house trip. on the flip the first track light of the moon is a more reflective slo mo affair. warm pads and 808 sounds melting into cicadas. finally we come to mpondo theme. sounds of nature kalimba and loose percussion all sit together and watch the sun dip over the savannah horizon. a proper ep this covering all shades.

corda ep is anton kubikov’s second solo release on pro-tez records. its a sultry, padded ep that makes use of a slowed-down template before covering it in swathes of dub pads and a pulsating square bass lines - reminding of an imaginary midnight sound jam between maurizio and larry heard. it is a robust and propulsive release for all dub techno heads. anton is emerging once again with his own utterly individual dub emissions with a touch of proper minimalism to it. available as 180 gram vinyl only release.

frankfurt based producer, dj and music lover martin heimann presents his debut single salto on carry on 008. remaining faithful to its name, the small label puts out another piece of limited wax every once in a long while. enrooted in the soundscapes of 80s proto house the original version of salto is a thriving piece of octave liberation. consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while fm pads and the 303 are performing a little duet. the release is ennobled by two proper remixes from moon b (peoples potential unlimited) and jex opolis (good timin). while moon b keeps it bubblin’ with some extra analogue funk bounce and subtle italo dance floor energy, the b-side is jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap. on top mr. opolis adds some mysterious but cheesy vocals samples that match perfect with the moody 80s orchestral stabs.

savas pascalidis delivered 4 tracks timeless techno for his 1st ep on children of tomorrow called right on for the darkness. a mix between deep techno tracks and more darker techno but always with a proper groove

technosoul .03 comes from blazej malinowski, who has previously released on swedish phorma and canadian silent season amongst others. “mika” and “open closed open” might serve as blazej s sound signature – deeply rooted, hypnotic techno with a trance edge, which works both on the dancefloor and in comfort of one s home. remix number one comes from the legendary british dj and producer steve bicknell, whose take on “mika” is raw and very dense at once – it serves as the most brutal piece of music on the release. remix number two comes from “the mad ukrainian” stanislav tolkachev, whose vision strikes as a real surprise. instead of his usual beats stampede, he has provided the record with a beautiful, ethereal offbeat techno: this won t probably work as a peak time monster, but with a proper audience, it will have a mesmerizing effect!

needing very little introduction here is soulful scotsman al kent, who delivers the dirty goods for his first outing on rnt. good inside and 4006 are a pair of dusty reworks, as gritty and groovy as you like. but the prize of this ep might just be come back home, the crown jewel of his decade-earlier secret sounds collection, finally getting a proper vinyl for the first time ever!

and so, a little short of our third birthday here at selador, it feels like we ve finally made it. no longer pretenders to the throne, we are now like a proper, authentic, fully fledged record label as we reach the holy grail of our very first vinyl release. a momentous occasion for sure. you can speak to our people from now on

snts records has released 6 eps arranged as parts of two trilogies, chapters and scenes, and snts s debut album proper, the rustling of the leaves. a couple other artists have also contributed remixes, with shifted appearing on scene iii and polar inertia set to surface again on the album. next, snts records will expand its reach with solo positive centre, who has released on our circula sound and stroboscopic artefacts.

lady blacktronika shows two totally different sides to her character with her return to bass culture via a potent ep full of deliciously dark, bass-heavy productions placed side by side with more soulful explorations of the house sound. following the ‘all in vain’ ep, which landed earlier this year, lady blacktronika comes correct once again with a collection of four of the finest quality cuts. our introduction to the ep is a thorough dip in the deep end of tech house, with the marauding ‘it rains’. full of darkness, the venomous track stomps along with a powerful, darkside bassline and razor-sharp percussion. high-pitched keys add to the malevolent flavour of this raw cut. after that, we get a more measured, yet mysterious and unsettling slice of minimal funk. ‘no good’ is a hypnotic trip inside lady blacktronika’s murky world with snarling synth lines, clever percussion, eerie fx and a naughty little b-line. on the flip we have retro-inspired ‘call my name’, with a very old school feel as the 808 gets a proper workout in tandem with a familiar female spoken-word vocal layered over the top. this is bound to send the dance floor into uproar with its killer vocal sample. finally ‘set out your luv’ gives the ep a heady ending, light airy pads are placed alongside a grooving bassline, soulful vocals, diamond-cut beats and squelchy effects to create a lush, dreamy soundscape which will get those hips moving….

the abstrat matters duo is back after releasing the hottest title on the cynosure label in 2014! with regular play from legends like derrick may to danny tenaglia. that being said the follow up is sure to land in the similar crates and rock dancefloors from ibiza to detroit. this ep delivers a combination of raw and rock solid techno grooves that boarder on the familiar or dare i say old school but maintain the futurist sensibility that make a proper techno twevle inch.

youth isn’t usually associated with wisdom, or depth or complexity for that matter. most 22 year-olds are still figuring out how a washing machine works but in the case of howes (the solo project of manchester-based john howes) he’s making electronic music that is operating on innovative and experimental levels one might expect from a hardened career musician hitting their stride. having released a more house-oriented 12” on melodic a couple of years ago, his debut album proper is a record that is as expressive as it is cohesive. it’s a release that floats between nocturnal stillness and insomniac driven intensity. the shift, howes says, “comes from the forced and narrow nature of a lot of electronic music. most modern electronic music to me is too safe in terms of ambition, sound design and intention.”

lanthan.audio kicked off 2016 with its third release. label owner, christian gerlach, has already delivered two powerful punches of conceptual techno by artists like edit select and deepbass. this time the south african born, new york based producer the echologist has been chosen to lead the five track ep. echologist, also known as brendon moeller, has always demonstrated his passion for hypnotic synths with intense smoky atmospheres. he delivers two original tracks that have then been remixed by a familiar name to the label, deepbass, as well as the talented antonio ruscito. with the original cuts you can expect a trippy journey into metallic loops on a spatial environment of solid beats. the deepbass remix offers another version of the hypnotic process in ‘dead men tell no tales’ in a more powerful manner. on the flipside, the italian, antonio ruscito delivers two other interpretations of the original track through different paths. the b2 serves us a proper banging synthetic vibe and the last bonus track, which is digital only, is the final trip to an hypnotic and cloudy deepspace. with this package lanthan.audio continues showing interest on a structural sound with that artistic touch of architecture. expect to see some more new constructions of they’re new building.
